Runner Safety

At the end of the day we just want you to have fun out there but safety is always a top priority, so don't be stupid:

  • Please pay attention to the course marking flags and stay on the course.
  • The trails are also active bike trails, so please pay attention and be vigilant of your surroundings, they're likely moving a lot faster than you are.
  • No shortcuts: the map may look like there is a shorter way but it could be dangerous or not approved for usage. Plus that's cheating, no one likes cheaters.
  • Please always wear your race bib, this is how you are identified. Additionally, write on the back of your race bib any relevant information that you want made known to medical personnel in the event it's needed and you're unable to provide that information.
  • Injured? Inform the aid station personnel if you need assistance or relay via other runners if you're down on the course and can't get to an aid station. As a participant, you may come across an injured runner and you may be first on the scene. Please do all that you can to assist. Keep track of the amount of time lost assisting the injured and we will deduct the time.
  • We encourage running with your cell phones so you are always able to call for assistance or in the event of an emergency.
  • Carry course maps and cue cards with you. We have the courses well marked, but you'll be out there for awhile and having some reassurance can be helpful.
  • This is a forest, there is nature and wildlife out there. Please respect that. Animals may not know these course rules so just let them mind their business.
  • All participants on course after 7:00 PM are required to wear a headlamp or reflective system

Rules

It's all fun and games until someone breaks the rules, don't let that be you. Be cool, follow the rules:

  • All participants on course after 7:00 PM are required to wear a headlamp or reflective system.
  • Bibs must be worn at all times.
  • Runners must follow the marked trails.
  • No short cuts. Again, that's cheating, no one likes cheaters remember?
  • No littering.
  • Be courteous to all volunteers, racers, and others recreating in the area.
  • Runners who fail to complete the full race distance they have registered for will be classified as DNF (Did Not Finish).
  • Runners who drop out of the race have the obligation to inform Official Trail Staff. Drop-outs should only be notified at the Aid Stations, the start line or the finish line. Marshals or any other staff member outside of these stations is not authorized to put on record any drop out.
